The Akshaya Patra Foundation Benefit Dinner

December 2, 2016

Himanshu and Gulab Bhatia were sponsors of the Akshaya Patra Diwali Dinner in Anaheim, CA, an event that benefited The Akshaya Patra Foundation.

The Akshaya Patra Foundation is the largest NGO run mid-day meal program in the world; cooking, transporting and serving freshly prepared hot, nutritious meals from 25 technology driven centralized kitchens and two decentralized kitchens to over 1.6 million children in 13,210 government schools in 11 States in India, every day. For many children, this is their only meal for the day. The meal serves as an incentive for children to attend class and stay in school, while providing necessary nutrients to support physical and cognitive development for better health and academics.

"We were honored to support this great cause," said Mr. and Mrs. Bhatia. "It takes as little as $15 to feed one child for an entire school year. It is truly amazing how this small amount can make such a huge impact."

All proceeds from tickets and donations to the event went towards The Akshaya Patra Foundation's efforts to increase enrollment in school, decrease the school drop-out rates and improve the health and performance among all students who receive Akshaya Patra meals.

The Akshaya Patra Diwali Dinner was held on Sunday, November 6th at the Anaheim Hills Golf Club.
